Itinerary

Day 1:

Yangon
Transfer to hotel. In the afternoon tour Yangon’s colonial-style city centre, visit Sule Pagoda, the magnificent reclining Buddha at Chauk Htat Gyi, make a photo stop at Karaweik Hall, stroll through Bogyoke (Scotts) Market, and complete your day with an extended visit to the spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda.

 

Day 2:

Yangon – Bagan
Following a short flight to Bagan you’ll stroll around pagodas and temples dating from the 11th century. In the afternoon see Myanmar’s famed lacquer-ware craftsmen at work, visit the Archeological Museum and watch the sunset over the Ayeyarwaddy River. (B, L, D)

 

Day 3:

Bagan – Mandalay – Mingun
After arriving in Mandalay enjoy a boat trip on the Ayeyarwaddy River to see the largest uncracked bell in the world. Then visit Hsinbyume Paya and the unfinished Mingun Paya, built as the world’s largest chedi (memorial). After returning to Mandalay tour the city and its monasteries and see the world’s largest book, made of marble! (B, L, D)

 

Day 4:

Amarapura – Ava – Sagaing
Visit the famous monastery at Mahagandayon, home to 1,000 monks, and the 200-year-old Teak Bridge. After lunch, take a short boat trip to the former royal capital of Ava and a horse drawn carriage to the leaning tower of Ave. Continue on to the famous Buddhist retreat of Sagaing Hills to enjoy the sunset. Day 5:

Mandalay – Yangon
After a short flight back to Yangon the rest of the day is yours to spend as you please before your transfer back to the airport. (B)
